Some people start blogs for the specific, singular purpose of making money.
Other people blog because they have something to say, BUT they fully expect to make a living saying it at some point. If the money doesn’t come, then suddenly they find something else to do with their words.
Still others just want to shout… or cry… from the rooftops, money be damned.
This blog fits firmly into the third category. Not that I have anything against people who do things for money… far from it. I’m about to enter my most mercenary phase yet, not because I want to, but because the world has demanded it from me. But that doesn’t have anything to do with this blog. My plan is to make my money in other ways, and this blog exists for the purposes of:
- Documenting and communicating my efforts
- Rebuilding the community that used to thrive here, and
- Offloading whatever angst and anger doesn’t make it into my writing. (It has to go somewhere, right?)
This website will soon enter a new, experimental stage. This blog is the research journal. I can’t predict what you will or won’t see here. Will you be entertained? Maybe, but that’s not my objective. Stories are for entertainment. This is more like… therapy. Is this replacing the Asylum Walls? Partially, yes. But that answer implies a “partially no” as well. We’ll figure that bit out later. Is this a place you’ll want to visit regularly? If you’re a fan of my writing… or of my genre… or are a friend of mine… maybe.
I know I’ll be here, doing what I do, for at least a little while longer. For as long as the experiment runs. However long that is.
After that… well, we’ll just have to see.
