Jack?

It just occurred to me that Sheridyn (from Magekiller) may very well be the medieval Jack Bauer.

Yes? No?

  1. Close. While both men carry out their tasks with ruthless efficiency, I think the main difference is that Sheridyn seems to rely a bit more on preparation before the battle to turn it in his favor, while Jack is much more improvisational. If Sheridyn knows he’s going up against Jack, he’ll no doubt do everything he can ahead of time to make sure the fight goes the way HE wants it to, and he’d probably have a decisive edge in that case. But if Jack gets the drop on Sheridyn, I think the odds are much more in Jack’s favor… though not definitively so.

Actually, now that I think about it, I’d say Sheridyn is more like a medieval Batman. He prepares for every imaginable contingency… and a few unimaginable ones as well.

  2. Then again, it’s been a few years since I’ve read Magekiller, so my recollection may be off. Take my previous post with a grain of (memory-impaired) salt.
