Now here’s an interesting list:
100 Alternative Horror Films.
There’s a lot of movies on there that I’ve either never heard of or never seen, although, in my defense, I prefer my horror movies to NOT be older than I am. Don’t get me wrong, there’s plenty of recent flicks on there too. And a few surprises. Alien 3?!? That pretty much discredits the list right there, BUT the point of that particular entry is that the director’s cut (which I have not seen) is much, much, much better than the theater version. We’ll have to see about that.
Anybody seen any of these and found them worthy of recommending? At a quick glance, I spotted Ravenous and Session 9, both of which I enjoyed. Also, Angel Heart, which I enjoyed for reasons OTHER than it being a decent horror move. :-). And of course: Dellamorte Dellamore (aka. “Cemetery Man”), which is more strange than scary… but still good.
Anyway, I may have to check some of these out. Starting with this Alien 3 version that’s supposed to not suck harder than a crack-addict singularity on payday.
The site as a whole looks somewhat interesting; I may have to investigate it further.
