The Internet has Discovered Mother’s Day.

For the past three days, my old science-fiction story Mother’s Day has enjoyed a huge spike in traffic, all of which is from stumbleupon. I guess somebody “discovered” the story and a lot other people seem to like it. I don’t know why I’m posting about it here, but unexpected traffic spikes are always fun to watch.

Coincidentally, while stumbling random sites just yesterday, the service brought me to the “Mother’s Day” page, making it the first time I’ve stumbled upon one of my own pages. I gave it a thumb’s-up. ;)

Still Another Actual Quote:

Dark Icon to coworker:

I’m kinda wondering what almost happened myself.

Old Story: The Forgotten

The next serial fiction project will be “The Forgotten,” a Dragons-Inn tale that I began literally years ago. I’ll be finishing it in the same format as the last story: three 500-word ‘episodes’ a week, posted on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Expect the first new content about a week from now.

Now would be a good time to re-read the first chapter, which I have now posted in the Library. I’ve broken it into 4 pages to make the transition to the new shorter format a bit less jarring.

For new(er) fans who haven’t been around for long, this is a dark fantasy tale that takes place in the same shared world as almost all of my fantasy stuff. Exactly what the Dragons-Inn is and how it works is beyond the scope of this simple announcement. But if you like dark action-fantasy stories, then you should probably check out this section of the Library.

See you in a week.

Dead Heaven

I found this fantasy webcomic and thought it was interesting. It’s too early to tell anything about the story, but its very well drawn. The site and what little story there is promise something nice and dark… so I figured I’d pass it along.

Next Project

Now that “Court of the Abominatrix” is finished, it’s time to talk about what’s next.

Well, for the next few weeks… nothing. I won’t be on vacation, however. There’s some heavy work stuff going on, and I plan on using what time I DO have to get a head-start on the next project: finishing the Dragons-Inn story “The Forgotten”. Yes, I COULD just jump right into it with a fresh update on Monday, but if I did that I would have to go on hiatus almost immediately due to work, so I might as well just wait. I’m going to try to do one update a week on that story… but it will essentially be three 500-word episodes posted at one time. “The Forgotten” was always going to be a short story, not a novel or novella like some of the other Dragons-Inn stuff, so it probably won’t take me long to finish it up. Sometime in the near future I’ll find the first chapter and post it in the Library… assuming I still HAVE the first chapter. I haven’t seen it in a while…

Court of the Abominatrix: End Notes

Today I posted the last two pages of the serial horror story “Court of the Abominatrix”. While certainly not my first attempt at serial horror, this is my longest horror serial to date. I thought it turned out pretty well.
