Recent Happenings

Clearly not much writing has been going on lately, and I figure I owe the fans an explanation. In truth, it would be several explanations, since, once again, the world is conspiring to keep me and the keyboard separated. I’m normally a private person, and aside from severe events, I’m usually vague about what goes on in my household. I’m not about to change that now. But… as I said… an explanation is in order.

First there was the flu. I had it. I wasn’t sick very long, but for about three days I was about one degree away from a hospital visit. I got better. And THEN my wife got sick. Same flu, but it affected her almost the inverse of the way it did me. She wasn’t nearly as sick as I was, but she’s been fighting this thing for weeks. She left the house for the first time in about three weeks yesterday.

So in the midst of all that, we’ve had a few things happen that I’m not going into details about, but they are of a financial and legal nature. I’m talking SEVERAL things, ALL of which are independent of one another. One of them is tax related. I’m not being audited, but I’m going to pay a LOT more in taxes than I planned for. And that’s just one of the things that’s going on. When it rains, it pours.

Anyway, the bottom line is that I need money. I already have two jobs, and the second one allows me some degree of flexibility as to my hours. I can’t exactly work as much as I want, but if I want to work a little more, I usually can. So that’s what I’m doing. Unexpected financial obligations have made it almost irresponsible of me to spend time writing that I could spend making an extra twenty bucks. And when I can’t make that extra twenty bucks, there’s still the matter of me having to take care of a sick wife and being generally too tired to do much besides surf the internet.

How long do I expect this state of affairs to last? A long time. But I do expect to do SOME writing in the next week or two, once my wife gets a bit better. Will I be back on the normal schedule? Probably not. Chapters will probably appear at random for the first half of the year, until finances settle.

So there. Situation explained without spewing my personal business all over the internet. Oh look… it’s time for a nap.

Happy new year. Perhaps this year will be better for our favorite storyteller, and he’ll return to his craft. I, for one, will check periodically until the site is no longer available.

It dawned on me this morning that I hadn’t checked the site since the turn of the year. I used to check it daily, but then again there used to be activity here. Still nothing. Almost a year since DI’s last story posting. Sigh. I guess this good thing has come to an end.

Thanks DI for all the stories over the years, and thanks to everyone who participated back in the day when this site was active. It’s been fun, and at least I was wise enough to download all the stories and keep them in an archive.

Perhaps one day in the future DI, or some of the other authors who posted here, will return and I’ll be lucky enough to discover them again.

Hope everyone who still checks this page sees this, or the forum post. DI has put some of the MageKiller stories into an e-book available on Amazon. I’ve read them, but bought them anyhow. Super happy to see DI finally published and looking forward to many more.

    Check it out at:

Interesting. Shame I don’t have a Kindle or I’d buy it just to support him. I wonder why he didn’t mention this here, but he’s been gone for so long I guess he’s given up on this site. After all, there look to be fewer than half a dozen regular visitors here. Still, from the blurb on the Amazon link, it appears that other works may be published as well. Best of luck to DI, and hopefully this will eventually lead to more writing.

I swear there was a spot along the right hand side of this page that had 5 random links to postings. I used to browse them for fun and memories, but it’s disappeared.
